I'm a sucker for good craftsmanship and tradition. These knives bring out some of the best of the best from France. Nontron, the name of a town deep in France's Perigord region, and the name of France's first and oldest knife. Hand fashioned from forged steel tempered in the iron rich water of the Perigord, the handle is shaped from boxwood then hand decorated with ancient wood burned figures of unknown significance. Each knife is made by hand. They have been made the same way since the Fifteenth Century. Find Nontron pieces at Couteaux-Berthier.
