One post always leads to another for me and gladly I've come across Annie Schlechter's photography. In addition to interiors, she does travel, product, and some portraiture work. Here are some great shots that beautifully demonstrate the art of display.

Art in the Kitchen

Over the next few days I'm going to focus on art in the kitchen. We all spend enough time there that it's certainly worth adorning the walls or counters with something special to look at. Here we see the benefits of open shelving and less cabinet space in general. Though this might be an organizational nightmare to some, it's a creative opportunity for others. Better, smarter options for under counter storage is giving us the chance to free up wall space for statement pieces or small accents.

Sometimes when I see an artist's work, it makes such an impact on me, I want to post every piece they've ever done. When I saw John Millei's seascapes, this lightening bolt of excitement hit me. These are all oils on large canvases. His most recent show, Maritime is on exhibit at Ace Gallery in Beverly Hills, California.

Terrafirma Ceramics has been in business for over twenty years since artist, Ellen Evans started it in New York City. The studio has several lines in dinnerware, planters, vases and tabletop accessories. Their pieces have a terrific blend of earthiness and sophistication.

Fruit Forever at Sue Fisher King

Sue Fisher King is a special store in San Francisco that sells china, flatware, linens, scents, jewelry and more. They also have the most beautiful hand-painted porcelin and ceramic objects. The fruits and vegetables seen here are made by Penkridge Ceramics of Birmingham, England. The plated pieces are from Didier in France. I can't believe they're not the real thing.
