I used to live in Missoula, Montana and I wish the shop Evolve was there when I was there. It's proof that that city just gets better and better. It's the shop of owner and designer Robyn Woodhall. You can also see her work at Towne Interiors.
Check out Alex MacArthur's Antique's showroom. Complete with a sea view, the shop is located at 101 St Georges Rd., Kemptown, Brighton, East Sussex. The collection comprises furniture, mirrors, lighting and decorative objects for the home and garden. The pieces range from 17th century ecclesiastical to 20th century industrial, with an emphasis on the dramatic and decadent. The website is kept up to date with the latest arrivals but it is always worth visiting the shop as stock is constantly changing.
Cool Hunting reports, "Using an unusual approach to treat leather, design studio Greece Is For Lovers' set of table and chairs features a nautical pattern that has literally been sun tanned onto the surface. Cheekily dubbed "Tan Lines," they stenciled a pattern onto the leather with sunscreen, exposing it to direct sunlight to darken the negative space. Over time, the two-tone design will weather more, fading the imagery into a single bronzed hue." I also had to include their killer leather skateboard commissioned for the "7ply Project" exhibition, organised by Propaganda Rolling Co. Socks optional.
Anna-Wili Highfield is a Sydney based artist currently making sculptures of animals from paper and from copper pipe. The paper sculptures are created from archival cotton paper, that is painted, then sewn together, to create the figure of an animal. They are so beautiful!
Interior design is a large universe full of ideas and inspiration. At HallReady I want to focus on a niche of design, the art of display. My goal for this blog is simple, to showcase a variety of ways to present art whether it's in the bedroom, kitchen or down the hall. Examples will include photos, paintings, taxidermy, collected objects, fun products and more. I'll look at a wide range of art, from homemade to gallery purchased, and investigate how framing, grouping, and coordinating art with surrounding objects can make a statement.
I'm Kate Shaw and I've worked as a photographer and in design magazine publishing. My love for interiors began with the gift of a book about Martha's Vineyard style when I was 12 years old. Since then I've been obsessed with all things related to art and interior design. Reach me at HALLREADYBLOG@gmail.com
