Visit Mondo Cane

Together Greg Wooten and Patrick Parrish formed Mondo Cane in 1994 at the Michigan Modernism show in Detroit. Since then, they have been regular exhibitors at Modernism events in New York, Miami and Palm Springs and Los Angeles. In September 2000 they opened their first shop in Chelsea. By 2004 Mondo Cane had outgrown its Chelsea location and the partners decided to move the gallery to 174 Duane Street in Tribeca. Besides wonderful home goods, they have an exhibition space. Most recently they showcased Carl Auböck.

The New York Times reported that Hart Schaffner Marx, the 123-year-old Chicago-based clothier has turned the page on a rocky past year and is now reviving it's inspiration and its roster of well-known brands, which include Hickey Freeman, Austin Reed and Bobby Jones. Where do you look for classic style that will never go out of style? Paintings. Maxfield Parrish paintings have been used for Hickey Freeman advertisements. Beautiful art and fine tailored suits - a stunning combo.

Next Up - Nathan Nichols

One of the highlights of my recent vacation was visiting Nathan Nichols & Company. Nichols has been in Door County, Wisconsin since 2000. That's when he officially became THE local interior designer and go-to for beautiful home goods. Before moving North, Nichols was with Baker Furniture in Kohler, Wisconsin. If you ever have the chance to explore this historically design-rich town, I'd recommend it. I'd also guide you to visit his two stores, one in Ephraim and the flagship in Bailey's Harbor. Here's a peek inside.Decorating trend: I love these paperbacks stripped of their covers and backings and tied with leather cord. Whether they're stacked or grouped, they're eye catching.

Finns Impress at London Design Week

I love the Finns! Coolhunting reports that, "A pop-up restaurant and concept space dedicated to all things Finnish, Hel Yes! forges together the tastes and sights of Finland for a clever take on an exhibit during the London Design Festival. The boundary-pushing installation is the work of former HIM keyboard player Antto Melasniemi along with London-based Finns, Mia Wallenius and Klaus Haapaniemi. "
