New York Interior Designer Miles Redd does a wonderful job combining different frames and styles in art displays. They're stylish, but they also say, "Yes, I live here, these are my memories and inspiring objects." Art is not about coordinating perfection and alignment, it is really about what you love and how it makes you feel. There are no rules that accompany that notion.

Q&A with Monument
If you are decorating your home and you want something really special, you go to Monument. When you do, I guarentee when you throw your first cocktail party, everyone will ask where you got that piece. Monument is an inspiring and beautiful store in San Francisco's Mission district.
- Name: Samuel Genthner & Michael De Angelis
- Occupation: Pickers & proprietors of Monument
- Last purchase you made that is hanging on your wall: Pencil drawing of a German Shepard from the 1940's.
- What's the item you've had the longest hanging on your wall? Paint-by-numbers portrait of Phyllis Diller
- Favorite place to buy art: Flea markets
- Do you collect anything? Italian 1960's ceramic wig stands!
- Any advice for those exhibiting art in their homes? Pick items that call to you -- things you love, and think about grouping opposing items: e.g. sleek & modern pieces with 19th Century antiques.

Happy at Happy Menocal
The Happy Menocal's water colors make me so happy. There are a number of cool series, bullfighters, beach scenes, wine and waffles, and for the gift givers, great pet portraits for $200.

Painter, Dave Muller
I don't know what it is about these paintings by Dave Muller that I like so much. I think it's just fun to see objects that might be on your shelf at home, but depicted in such a cooler medium. Dave uses acrylic on paper.
Whites, Woods and Naturals with Aaron Hom
Aaron Hom uses simple objects, and natural tones on white canvases in each of these examples and its cool and clean. Thanks to Julian Wass for the beautiful Photos.

For the Boys
Off the Wall
Don't forget about Casadeco for off the wall ideas. Since 1996 they have worked in tight collaboration with internationally known creators and artists in order to create ranges of products coordinated to wallpaper : fabrics, panoramics, stickers, cushions, lampshades and ready to hang curtains.
A Foot Above Sculpture
Displaying books on a shelf or a table is making a creative and literary statement. Add a beautiful red scuplture on top and you're making it extra special. Thanks Richard Powers for the photo.

Casual Eclecticism
This is Caroline Scheeler's house in Wayne, Illinois. My first job was lifeguarding at the Dunham Woods Riding Club in Wayne. I grew up surrounded by the town's horse trails and buildings which are steeped in history. It's one of the best small towns in the country. I was thrilled to see these photos of Caroline's house there. She commutes to Jayson Home & Garden in Chicago, another home-town favorite of mine. Photos by Roger Davies.

Cabinet Curiousities - Nicole Hollis
Nicole Hollis leads an incredibly talented design team. Here is a shot provided by Ben Mayorga of her work at the 2009 San Francisco Designer Showcase. The displays inside and out of the cabinet are gorgeous. She’s bringing the outside in in the chicest way possible.
Man Up
Recently a friend of mine bought his first place. He's excited to make it his own, but has been looking for some inspiration. I think these art displays are particularly masculine and cool.
